UAS Flight Instructor

£42,000 – £58,000

Responsible for platform-specific instruction of operators and instructors, and for assessment against the approved training standard.

Responsibilities

  • ■Deliver platform-specific training to internal and customer personnel
  • ■Assess competence against the approved syllabus
  • ■Prepare personnel to operate and sustain the capability with reduced supervision
  • ■Provide training observations for incorporation into procedures and course material

Requirements

  • ■Instructor or train-the-trainer experience on unmanned aircraft systems, military or civil
  • ■Current remote-pilot qualification and recent flying experience
  • ■Consistent standard of instruction, assessment and debrief
  • ■Eligibility for security clearance

An instructor qualification with defence or security training experience supports £54,000–£58,000.

Systems Engineer

£55,000 – £85,000

Responsible for the technical integration of aircraft, control systems, communications and ground systems, and for support to trials and configuration control.

Responsibilities

  • ■Integrate aircraft, control systems, communications and ground systems
  • ■Support flight trials and configuration control
  • ■Investigate system faults with technicians and instructors
  • ■Maintain a controlled and reproducible system build

Requirements

  • ■Degree or equivalent in engineering, avionics or a related discipline
  • ■Practical experience of flight control, datalink, communications or ground systems
  • ■Flight-test or systems-integration experience
  • ■Eligibility for security clearance

Unmanned-systems experience is required. Guidance, navigation and control experience, or defence autonomy experience, supports £75,000–£85,000, in line with current United Kingdom senior autonomy and technical appointments. Remuneration above £100,000 applies to programme leadership in London, not to this appointment.

Sustainment Technician

£32,000 – £48,000

Responsible for inspection, maintenance and return to service of platforms and associated equipment during deployment and long-term operation.

Responsibilities

  • ■Inspect, maintain and repair airframes, power systems and avionics
  • ■Control configuration, spares and release-to-service records
  • ■Support customer sustainment so the capability is retained by the operating organisation
  • ■Report recurring defects to engineering

Requirements

  • ■Aircraft, avionics, electronics or related maintenance experience
  • ■Fault diagnosis in the workshop and in the operating environment
  • ■Accurate technical records
  • ■Eligibility for security clearance

Unmanned-systems maintenance experience is an advantage. Authority to prepare the maintenance schedule and to release equipment to service supports £44,000–£48,000.

Integration Engineer

£48,000 – £70,000

Responsible for bringing aircraft, control equipment and ground systems into a single operating capability, and for technical support during establishment with the customer.

Responsibilities

  • ■Prepare and verify system configurations for training and deployment
  • ■Support installation and acceptance with the customer organisation
  • ■Confirm interfaces between aircraft, control equipment and ground systems
  • ■Record integration findings for engineering and sustainment

Requirements

  • ■Engineering, avionics, communications or systems-integration background
  • ■Practical experience of control systems, communications, electronics or ground equipment
  • ■Ability to work alongside instructors and technicians during trials and handover
  • ■Eligibility for security clearance

Unmanned-systems experience is an advantage, not a requirement. Defence, security or complex-systems integration experience supports £65,000–£70,000.
